THE NEXT CHAPTER · SUI NETWORK

The Penguin had the past.
$SUICA wants the future.

For 25 years, a little penguin was the face of Japan's most iconic transit card. In 2027, it retires — and the internet turned the search for its successor into an all-out contest. No corporation picked a winner. The community did.

SCROLL

Not a launch. A contest.

Suica's next chapter didn't start in a boardroom. It started with a retirement date and a community that refused to just watch.

2001

The Penguin takes the platform

A little penguin becomes the face of Japan's most iconic transit card, riding through millions of stations, gates, cities, and lives for the next 25 years.

Final station

Every journey eventually ends. The Penguin retires, and on September 8th a new character is set to take its place — chosen through an official character election.

The election

Three enter. One inherits the throne.

The internet finds the candidates, and stops seeing an ordinary election. Three characters enter the station. The community starts calling it what it really is: a fight for the future.

Somewhere in between

An idea, born off the rails

Somewhere between Tokyo Station and the blockchain, a question takes hold: what if the community crowned its own successor? No corporation. No boardroom. No CEO. Just memes, chaos, and a vote nobody official is counting.

Now

$SUICA is born

Not an official JR East product. Not a replacement for the real Suica. A meme-powered tribute to the next chapter — living on Sui, where the journey continues.

Suica should live on Sui

No corporation is deciding this one. Just the community, the memes, and the next chapter of the journey.
